Okay, before my husband has a heart attack or takes an ax to "Hank" our 9N, let me fill you in on what he's done. He took this poor ole rusted thing and has made it look like a brand spankin new tractor. He finally got the rebuilt starter in, new radiator, new points, plugs, should I go on? It started briefly, the lights work! Now, nothing! What in the heck could be the problem???
Thanks!
Patti

Patti - if a shot of starter fluid in the air cleaner gets it to run briefly, it is most likely a fuel problem. The 9N has screens in the sediment bowl assembly, as well as within the carburetor. And "bad" gas might be a problem as well.

If the starter fluid doesn't get it, have your hubby pull one of the plugs, lay it on the head of the engine and give it a crank. We want to see a bright blue spark at the plug. If there is none, the most likely culprit is the coil, however the ignition switch might also be blocking the required voltage.

Give those a try and get back to us.

Patti, we need more info on Now nothing. Does it turn over? Is there spark (hot blue)at the plugs? Is it getting gas? How do you know?
what is the voltage at the coil, points open and closed? Is it a 6V system or 12 V converted?
