I Hello all, I rebuilt the 8N hydraulics this spring: everything new except pump housing and chambers. Yesterday I was going to do some hoggin'. The 3-pt lifted as high as the pto shaft would let it(probably bent it). This morning it hadn't lowered at all, still where it was last night. With a little persuasion I got the mower off and started hammering on the pto to remove it from the ORC and the 3-pt released, now it seems to work fine without anything attached. Thanks to all that replies.

Dad use to have an "8N" back in the 50's when I was a young'n. It use to pull that stunt every so often. I don't remember for sure what caused it, but seems it was a load it couldn't lift. It would not go down until it had lifted all the way to the top. Then it was OK and every thing worked fine again. I know it did it a few times when we were pulling posts and we had to pry the arms off the drawbar to get enough slack in the chain to unhook and let it go all the way up and restore what ever caused the problem. Also sounds to me like you need to modify your PTO hook up so you have full movement on your lift.
