I posted a message here a week ago. My 9n will loosepower going up a hill or pulling. I keep the gas tank full which helped in the begining. now when i open the throttle it will take a few seconds to wind up and then will losse power going up a hill or when pulling. I took out the two highspeed needle son the carb. and they looked clean. I took the screen out where the glass bulb is. seems as thought the fuel flows good the the carb. PLEASE HELP

If the tractor starts easily will maintain an even rpm on the flat and bogs down under load, I'd be more inclined to investigate timing and advance and governor function. Most likely the governor is not adjusted correctly or is badly worn. Valve adjustment and fatigued valve springs can also affect power.

Check the other screen. The one that is inside the brass fitting between the gas line and the carb. Mine was full of plant dust of some sort. Ease to remove the screen, but real bear to clean it. I unsoldered mine and then resoldered. Brent

You need to take the carburetor down and clean it and replace the gasket between the two halves. Be sure there is no parts of the old gasket left on the surfaces.

Be very cautious about the gas in a closed area and have no source of ignition so you don't set yourself of fire with the gas. The bottom of the bowl needs to be cleaned good and then blown out with compressed air. If you have the right tool to do it you need to remove the high speed jet that is the brass thing in the venturi (throat) of the intake that is pointing down and toward the front. It takes a long socket of the right size and don't try to get it out with a pair of pliers or you may get it so it can never be removed and cleaned. There will be several little holes in the jet that come into the bore from the sides and they all need to be opened with a needle of the right size. The best thing to use is a welders tip cleaner as it will have an assortment of different sizes and one will fit. Always use the biggest one you can get to go into the hole,

Since you have a 9N see the link below.

Thanks Zane, although I can tie my shoes, I'm not so sure I can rebuild a carb. Did it sorta, on my '55 F250 once, but it was pushing the envelope for me.

I've got an 8N but I might just need to talk to you about the OZT (Other Zane Thang, or is that, SZT: Son of Zane Thang?), the hydro is weak and I think it's in my future (hopefully not 'til this fall though).
