Alternator question

The P1 wire from my alternator goes to the (original) resister block along with the hot wire to the starter. This causes my alternator to be warm to the touch with key in off position. Should I have a diode installed between alternator and resister block or should the P1 wire be landed somewhere else? Alternator functions properly and tractor runs great however I have a battery drain that may be related to the lack of a diode or side marker? Thank again!

Ron, Sounds like you have P1 connected to the Wrong side of the ignition Switch (should be on "switched" BAT). You will "also" need a Diode(1n4003) to prevent feedback.(cathode to ALT side, marked)

Hope this Helps,

A diode insatlled correctly should solve your problem. Get diode at your alt. starter repair shop. My book shows R1 not P1 . I have used indicator lamps also.
