I'm getting ready to install a side marker lite on excite lead from alternator. Ballast resistor has ignition wire on one side and coil wire on opposite side (on top 2 posts). Does the alternator excite need to be landed on ignition wire side of resistor or coil side? I found the excite lead had been landed on bottom post with hot leads from alternator, starter switch/battery & wire from other side of ignition switch. This was causing my excite lead to be energized all the time and draining my battery. 1940 9N, front mount. Thanks again!!

Ron..... ..the alternator excite should come thru the marker light from the on/off side of the ignition switch just as your ballast resistor comes from the same on/off switch terminal. That means that both the alternator excite and the ignition ballast should be powered on/off by the same ignition switch terminal..... ....Dell
