Anyway to disable those banners so it doesn't take all night to check out the auction stuff? This old thing takes forever getting back from an item to the page listing.

Hey RICK, go out to google and do a search on pop up stopper. It is a small freeware that will blow the socks off pop ups. I did not say this for the advertizing grus will send me a death ray. Caution read all about it before installation

Thank you for posting this!! I just down-loaded it this afternoon, and am totally awed!! Pesky pop-ups are a thing of the past!! Everybody should get it!! And, best of all, it is free!! Probably illegal, or something. (Too good to be true!!)

Its the same old crap, just look at TV, you pay for it but out here in New England, the content to commercial ratio is less than 40%. Now the marketing weenies figure that more people are surfing the web than watching garbage on TV so they are infesting this medium too. It will only get worse.

When you search an item by title or category and want to look at an individual auction, right click the auction and then choose:
After you are done looking just close that window and the page you were on is still there. No reload time...

The keyboard shortcut is to hold the left shift key down when you click on a link. That will force the link into a new window (assuming you use IE).

mikey,
Back in March, I did a name change from Scott to Mikey because somebody else started using my name. I contacted the individual (who has since left this board) and he wasn't agreeable to using another name, so I switched. Now it's happening again! The best way to check is to do a search in the archives for the name you want to use. Then check the latest posting date to see if it is still active. P.S. I would never tell somebody to get a new computer. A new modem? probably. More RAM? possibly. But not a new computer. If my ’41 needed a tune-up, I sure wouldn’t go and buy a different tractor!

Mikey

Out here in the rural areas, we would need a new phone company. Mine only promised 1200 baud until 2 years ago, when they started their own internet service. Now they promise you should get 28K, but not to expect any more than that.

Doesn't really matter how fast the coumputer/modem is, does it? I think a lot of web sie designers have totally lost sight of what people out in the real world have to work with. Just like the new tractors with the electronics & plastic, might be nice for some, but worthless to me. Lot's of web sites are making themselves worthless with all the glitz & animation.

I think you hit it. I have 56K modem which usually connects around 43500, Unless it is real important to me, like auction ending then it will be 13000 or less. Disconnects are hourly event.
