was cleaning old paint off the head in preparation to install and turned it over and was looking at it and noticed a crack. it is between 2&3 cyl and is from the center bolt hole in head to a water jacket hole next to it. it is about 1/4 inch long and appears to be a surface crack. the crack is hole to hole and cant grow but i am wondering if it will cause any problems.the head was milled. thanks

I noticed the same condition when removed the head to have it re-surfaced. The machinist repaired it by welding a case plug onto the cracked hole to prevent any bypass. No additional problems.....

I just had my head magnafluxed and it was cracked in exactly the same spot. The machinist told me to put some black rtv silicone cement on the #1 center bolt when I install it and it should be OK. Low compression and all it shouldn't do anything but at the very worst weep a little antifreeze.
