What type of pin/bolt should I use when I connect my Bush Hog to my 8N PTO? Should I use a low grade bolt or some type of pin?

Thanks

Peace

Sal.

Sal..... ..the shearpin bolt is grade 2, cheapest and softest bolt there is. I want the shearpin to break before my brushog guts do. And while I scalp rocks in my rocky pasture while mowing, I've only replaced the shearpin once. (knock on wood)

But more importantly, you must have an Over Running Coupler (ORC) on your N-Tractors PTO shaft. The ORC prevents all that brushog inertia energy from backfeeding into the tractors tranny when you clutch to slowdown to go around the barn corner, fence post, creekbank, irrigation canal, wifes car (don't ask) and surprise it doesn't slow down. The ORC also prevents expensive noises in the tranny. $60 cheep, gettcha one..... ..Dell, the self-appointed ORC safety preacher

Sal,

It is usually a bolt. Grade 3 if I'm not mistaken. I think they have a desired length too, not too long.

Your local NH dealer or other farm place can set you right.

first off get yourself an overriding clutch, otherwise that bushhog could push you over an embankment. I am sorry to say I know of that happening and they aren't with us anymore.
