I just bought a new set of points and am assembling the distributor. Problem is, is that these points don't seat against each other squarely, should I attempt to tweak them slightly with a pair of needle nose or won't it make any difference since they are only working when they are open? I am concerned about getting the proper .015 gap or is this slight mis alignment ok?

I am a little disapointed because I had to work late so I gave my wife a list and she went to NAPA and they nailed her for $11.46 for these, for that kind of money they should be gold plated.

The two contacts are supposed to meet squarely and on center. Mechanics used to keep a tool in thier toolboxes to square up points upon installation. Also clean them after gapping with a cotact cleaner to get all the oils off. They are always stored with oil and your feeler guage probably has some oil on it as well. I too have found the NH dealer to have very good prices on 8n parts and most of it in stock in my central Saskatchewan location. Good Luck

make certain they are centered, if they aren't you will burn them on the edge and be replacing them soon. My luck with NAPA for 8N parts has been less than satisfactory. Deal with the fellows here or go see your New Holland dealer. I have found NAPA to be higher than New Holland on many parts and NH usually have them in stock and the fellows are more knowledgeable
