DEAR SIR, MY FORD 8N HAS A FRT DISTRIBUTOR. IT KEEPSBREAKING THE LOWER LEFT PORT FOR SPARK PLUG WIRE. I NEED A SOLUTION AS SOON AS POSIBLE. I'VE GONE THRU THREE IN THE LAST FIVE WEEKS. WOULD APPRECIATE ANY SOLUTIONS TO THIS PROBLEM. THANKYOU, RON

Mine also was doing this and it is tore down getting the pivot pin replaced but I think my distributor might have had somthing to do with it. The front bushing in the distributor is worn badly and was allowing the rotor to hit the contacts, it hit #2 the hardest which may have caused mine to break.

This problem is caused by exceesive wear in the pivot pin in the center of the fron axle. either the pin or its bushin is worn to the point that when you go over a bump that lifts the right front tire very high the axle interferes with the distributor cap and breaks that little tower off.
The fix is not difficult nor expensive. Place a jack under the engine and lift the front end. block it to be safe.

Instructions are in the I&T manual

Note- there is no provision for a grease fitting in this area so grease the parts as you install them.

There is a reason for no grease. Grease attracts grit and grime and accelerates wear.

AND, you don't need to grease the radius rod ball ends for the same reason. don
