I am replacing pts on dis. What is the large or full gasket for, does it go on on top of the points. This gasket is soild except for a hole about the size of a dimein the center, It fits inside the dis.

2ND ? Is there a better source for rebuilding the dis. than the f-04 manual? I have found several other locations for carb. governor and other things but not the distributer. I also have the original manual from ford.

3RD ? My wife asked me the other day why was the tractors named 8N ,2N 9N Any HELP HERE?

Your Help Here is greatly Appreciated

Robert with an Old 8N.

Hi Robert: Perhaps this parts explosion pic from the Master Parts Manual will help supplement your FO-4:

Part # 9N 12276B is the cover you describe goes between the points and the rotor button.

Cant help you with a better source but search the archives for "distributor overhaul" and you could learn alot fast.

9N first made in 1939
2N in 1942
8N in 1948
