Work Master Gamble?

I have an opportunity to buy a Ford Work Master.

Been outside for about 5 yrs and there are sapplings growing up around it.

It's all there. Tires are shot, Tin is good, no chance on starting it like it is, Oil is filthy, Radiator fluid seems to be free of oil, Wiring is a mess.

Does have a loader, under-body grader and york/landscape rake.

I have no idea if the block is cracked or if the tranny is shot.

I was told that it ran when it was parked...or was that stalled?

This would be a complete tear-down project...my first.

So what would 'an opportunity' like this be worth?

I would like the york rake for my 8N and the loader looks in decent shape so I could get $250 or so for that, not sure what the grader blade would bring.

I am thinking $300-$400 and I haul it away...any thoughts?

Are parts readily available for these machines??? and if all else fails how would I do if I needed to part it out?

Regards.

Sal

tlak is right...more info would be good. If it's a 661 you'll have live pto and a 5 speed. 651 is a 5 speed without live pto. Parts aren't too bad. No one supplies hoods yet, so having good sheetmetal to start with is a plus.

You need to find out more. Does it have a four or five speed, can have an SOS trans. Check the site Ive posted for model and sn location and what option different models have. If you get it for the 300-500 the implements are worth that so you could be getting a free tractor.

Sal,Those guys are right on - I currently have a 641 Workmaster and would have liked to have a live PTO, but so be it- Sounds like a good opportunity if the engine and tranny are in workable shape- Metal is a little tough to come by but its out there
