After posting that last post on the gov overhaul. I was curious, what happened to Don8NAZ? His overhaul guides, IMO are simply the BEST. Without his carb overhaul guide, I would have never attempted the repair. His visual step-by-step process is extremely professional and complete.

I was just curious if he is still around and if so, when can we expect the engine, hydraulic & front-mount distributor overhaul guide? (grin - haha) -- thanks!

Andy

It's nice to be appreciated. Actually I have been busy building my house here in AZ (4000 sq ft). I'm an Owner/Builder type and do all the work myself. (I'll be starting my Owner/Builder Magazine soon, for folks in the same boat as me.)

You can guess how valuable the 8N is at my jobsite. I've outfitted it with a Paulson Loader. Exactly what I needed for only $1200 new. It won't escavate, but man can it move dirt (and keep me from coming home to mama all crippled from hand digging)!

I've been really lucky since nothing else has broken on my 8N so I haven't had to do any more Overhaul Guides. It looks like I'm eventually going to have to overhaul my distributor. Mine's a sidemount, but the dist hole has been stuffed with an aftermarket Autolite distributor, which, unfortunately has a warped shaft. I've been afraid to take the dizzy out for fear that I'd never get it back in, and I still need the tractor running for a while more. Well, winter will soon be here (I get snow, just like most of the rest of you).

Hope this finds you all well. Shame on me for not visiting back with the 8N Tractor forum more often. I'll do better.

Regards,
Don Stewart

Don,

I am in Phoenix now, don't know where you are. I rebuilt the distributor on my 53 NAA last March. I didn't know the shaft was warped, so I still have that problem! Any clues on how or why they warp? Let me know if you would like some help.

Tom

Thanks Don for the Carb and Governor sites. I found them really helpful when I rebuilt mine.

From what I understand, he posts a overhaul guide when he does a certain overhaul. Maybe he hasn't done those yet.

From his website: "Every time I overhaul something on my 1952 Ford 8N Tractor, I photograph the event and develop another Overhaul Page."
