Front axel support housing, cast iron or steel? My pin holes are elongated. Wondering wether to build up with weld or get them bored & bushed. How much money can one stick into these thins???:)) At least I can depend on my N how about my gov't? Finished harvest today & went to help a neighbor do 2 acres of his & now I need to take the tractor down to get the combine home. I love farmin', one challenge after another. Thank God for what freedom we got left & play safe. Rusty.

I've got 15 Ns. The center king pin and bushing has been worn out on all of them. I bought some steel tubing of the appropriate size and use it to replace the king pin. The hard part is cutting off the flange from the old king pin and welding on a piece of the new tubing at a right angle to the flange. I use a lathe to turn the weld true with the pin. The bushing is not expensive. If your axel support housing is elongated from wear you could weld it up and the new bushing would help take up slack. Or, pack some JB weld inbetween the bushing and the housing. It can't end up being any worse than it is now. Good Luck, F8N.
ps, I could buy all new parts, but that wouldn't be N fun!
