Does anyone have any experience with the Pertronix ignition system that Genessee Products sells? Is it easy to install? Is it reliable? Does it make your tractor run better than it did with points when well tuned up? Thanks.

Randy, I have had a Genesee "pointless ignition" on my 8N for 'bout 5 years. Starts better, runs better, never have to worry about adjusting anything. There is no decision-DO IT! Mine is 12 volts too with a twelve volt coil-no ballast resistor. I haven't had the plugs out in the least 5 years 'cause it doesn't miss or run bad. The last problem ignition related was a corroded coil high tension wire-I can't remember when I put that one on before.

I have them on both my 74 F250 and my Jubilee. They both run much smoother.

A few years ago I put it on a JD A and it seemed to work fine, easy to install and still on tractor when I sold it. If the points are set up right and distributor is not worn tractor should run fine but don't try to just fix the points if you have other problems like worn dist bushings regards

I have had the Pertronix ignition on my 6 volt 52 8n for about ayear. No problems sofar. It was fine before, but I wanted to get out of changing points. It is very easy to installed about ten minutes. The only drawback is with a 6 volt system it has to 4.6 volts to start.
