Were dual rear tires ever an option/add on to the 8Ns?

Is there a stock way to do it?

Just curious and would love to see a few pics if possible.

Thanks.

Sal

Hey Sal,I have a set of long studs on my 8-n, whenever I want the duals on I just roll them over and put on the extra wheels. I have used them at a pull and around the place a little. It makes your rear wheelbase about 8' wide, sure stable on the sidehill but hard on barn doors. I got mine from a tractor wrecking yard here in Or., they were used and I don't know the brand or proper name of them but they work well.

Hey Sal. Here's a few pics that hopefully will answer your questions. This one is from a Ford dealer advertising post card:

Here's a section from an accessories brochure:

And, here's a parts breakdown from another catalog:

Hope this helps..... ..... Ed

I have seen two N's with duals, one was just in August at Buckley, Michigan. I talked to the owner and he said it was available at dealers but there was not a lot of demand. I have a picture at home (just a frontal view)but have no way to scan it in. The only advantage I can see would be for soft ground flotation or with lots of weights added for traction in a pull that now demands more power that then creates mechanical stresses that the tractor was never designed for.
