I need to replace the tires on my 47 2N. Smiths tractor page shows a 51 8N with modified rims and a woods belly mower with turf tires.

Does anyone have any suggestions on front and rear turf tires for mowing and still be good for snow plowing and light loader work without doing any rim modifications?

Thanks in advance

The rear rims were modified to accomodate the 24"
turf tires. 28" turf tires would be too large,
increasing your speed. I have a later model ford
tractor with a KD forklift and it has 24" tires,
so someone makes a wheel disk for 24" rims
for the fords.
The only marking I can read on the disks is
'Made in France'. If you can find some disks you would only have to buy 24" rims and tires, no other fabricating necessary. BTW, if you find some disks, I would like to get
some also, as I would like to make this modification also. On the front rims, the only other choice I can
think of would be to use 8N hubs, which would allow almost unlimited choices of rims to use.
The offset of the wheel may be an issue to avoid
interference with the axle assembly.

Turf tires are pretty much useless in mud and snow. I have never tried this, but I think a good set of chains on turf tires would be even better than chains on lug type tires...Al English

I agree with Al about the chains on turf tires and so do JD and Kubota.
I see lots of their new compacts with turf tires sold and many are used in the winter with chains very effectively.
My Father has a late 60's vintage Simplicity 'Yard Tractor' that he has rear weights and chains on turf tires.
He can push nearly as much snow as I can with the 8N and 3-point snow plow.
I will beat him this year though as I am in the process of putting the blade on my loader arms.
I want BIG piles this year...
