I know when the hyd. fluid is changed some folks run a bit of kerosene through to help loosen the gunk and clean it out.

Would this work with an oil change...by adding a quart of kerson to the oil(on a warmed up engine) and runing it for 5-10 minutes before draining it.

Thanks.

Sal

After I drained mine, I took the cover off the right side and used a garden sprayer with kero in it to get the sludge out. Use a flash light to see in there. The long tube on the sprayer made getting in there easy. Seems to have worked fine. My 2cents.

A quart of tranny fluid works nice...and it does not thin as much as the kero..
Happy Motoring

I have heard of people doing this. The only caution I heard about it was some people experienced increased oil leaks afterwards.

I read here about someone suggesting frequent oil changes as another alternative for sludge cleaning. The idea is to do an oil change every 2 hours or so. My oil would get black with that much use. Adding a quart of MMO was another suggestion I followed. I have been doing that and after about the 5th change it isn't getting black after 2 hours of use.

HTH & YMMV
