Ok... The 8N is now up and running.

Not so with the NAA. I discovered the points were fried. I Replaced the dist. cap, rotor, points and condenser. Still no spark.

I took a spark plug and hooked it right to the coil primary wire and sufficiently grounded the spark plug... NO SPARK at the plug! I ran the same test on my other 8N with a 12V system... tons of spark.

I also notice that the coil reads 11V on the input and output... same as the 8N.

Do you think the coil is bad?

BTW: This is a 6V coil on a 12V system. The coil actual says "No Resistor Required" and there is none! :-)

I am absolutley sure it is getting gas and I replaced the carb with my other NAA that is running fine. Rule out fuel.

Patrick

Make sure you have the points closed then turn on the key. If you still have 11 volts on both sides of the coil you must have a broken wire somewhere between the coil and the points. Coils were made with an internal resistor so if yours is marked as no resistor needed the resistance measured across it should be greater than the .06 ohm measured on a normal 6 volt coil. It should also be less than 10 ohms (the resistor used on 12v. coils) If your coil is partially shorted it could still measure right with an ohmeter but not work, but the voltage on the point side would be close to 0 on the first test listed above.
Hope this helps - - Jack

Jack, Thanks!

All is well now with a new coil!

THANKS!
