Mine has leaks. There are ways to minimize them. New gaskets are the obvious answer, but can be expensive to replace them all, and time consuming. I recently eliminated the gaskets on the valve chamber covers and made a gasket with black rtv. Apply it to the covers, and spray oil on edge of opening in block. Wait til it's tacky and install(loosely). Tighten later. You can remove them later and the new "gasket" will stay on the covers. Also, CRANKCASE VENTILATION and filtration is important. If the breather filter on the oil filler cap is dirty or clogged, crankcase pressure will assist engine oil in finding its way out through marginal gaskets. Do not remove breather with engine running, or you may find fan blown debris in your oil pan, engine etc. You can test how bad this is by installing a vacuum/fuel pressure guage through a rubber stopper tightly fitted into the oil filler hole. Pressure in excess of 10psi (while plugged) will make it leak terribly even when un-plugged. High pressure may be an indication of worn rings or valve guides. Clean breather filter and re-install. I am sorry to be so long winded. It is from my own bad (and good) experience, and I wanted to share my ideas with this forum. I have learned so much here. Thank you. Bob8n

Mine doesn't seem to leak (not even from the cotter pin hole).

'Course, I'd have trouble telling if it started leaking given that the car has been leaving oil spots for a while.

I must have an exceptional 2N, cause it doesn't leak anywhere. I use it to cut thirty-five acres and does great.

My 518n has a static leak at the front seal and carb elbow (I tightend the elbow too tight)and the fuel shutoff valve doesn't close off completly. If I fill the gas tank, the cap leaks. I feel lucky thats all I have(knock on wood). DON TX
