I got my engine back after rebuild on Sat Morning had it back in and front end on by mid afternoon. It was blowing oil and I was going to do it myself. After it sitting for 9 months I decided to ship it out and have it done. Sleeves were really worn, new pistions, valves, etc, new starter and had the guy throw on a 12v Alt and coil. (my pocket book hurts)

I've bypassed the "relay" (?) behind the tool box. and did not put the resistor to make coil 6v inline. Since it's a 12v coil.

Getting Spark... and backfire out carb thinking it is a timing issue.. IS IT A WIRING ISSUE? 6v -12v .

"Getting Spark... and backfire out carb thinking it is a timing issue"..... ..YES!!!!

Recently getting reports a "rash" of mis-timed camshaft/crankshaft/flywheel timing marks upon engine rebuild. Only way to check for certain is to take cylinderhead and front timing cover off. Check valve positions with crankshaft TDC, Sorry..... ...Dell

First, eliminate the easy things. Firing order correct? 1243? wires to plugs and cap correct? If sidemount? distributor gear correctly meshing with cam gear? i.e. rotor points to cylinder nr. one on TDC with compression? The harder stuff is to determine if the cam is correctly timed with the crank. Both valves closed on nr. one cylinder when piston is TDC..... You may need to pull the valve cover to determine this....but do the easy stuff first..
This is a good start..
Happy Motoring
