I use a 7' rear blade, rear tires are filled and have been using 'road style' chains. I have always done well with this set up. There are a few ways to go with rear blades. I use the blade turned towards the tractor and usually have it set at about a 30 degree angle to the right. I have found that I can pull a great amount of snow this way...it woorks very well on my 150' paved drive and my 1/4 mile gravel road. If the 8N starts to bog down with too much snow I raise the blade as I go to 'lighten the load', then I just make another pass to move what I left behind the first time. I would would say that you should be carefull using the brakes to turn on pavement when you got tire chains on...you can gouge the pavement pretty good. I'm sure other guys have different ways and they will share their methods. I have a neighbor who turns his blade around and backs up to push the snow...personally looking back like athat kills my neck after a while. At the least I would go with a set of chains and reccommend that you push the snow back further than you think you will need to, otherwise you may run out of room to place the snow in the middle of Feb. ...and make sure your lights work, front and back, make it a lot easier and safe.
