I have a 1950 8N, and I am not sure what type of
seal is used under the bolt head that attaches the
top cap to the oil filter housing. Thank you for any replies. Ron

Whenever I buy a filter element for my 800 series, it comes with all the gaskets. At least it does when I buy from FNH. I can't remember if the filter I bought from the local auto parts store (they sell Wix) came with all the gaskets or if I was forced to re-use an old one.

Hi Ron: Here's a scan from the Master Parts manual, showing an exploded view of the oil filter, with the part number for the gasket that goes under the bolt:

Hi, I just traded for an 8N tractor. It is rough but fixable. Any known problems that the transmissions have? Are rear axle seals hard to install?

Hi Ron-I just went to my local tractor yard parts counter and asked if there was a gasket or washer that is supposed to go there and they sold me a COPPER 7/16" washer. Hope this helps...
