Well, first off, get ready, for my plauge of questions is about to begin. Now, the question- on our Farmall Super A, there is a tool box that mounts under the seat. I was wondering if the 8N had any type of tool box, and where it was located. I believe mine is devoid of any tool box, unless I'm just not looking in the correct place. I looked under the hood, above the battery, because I had hear 9N tool boxes were in there. I have no tool box under the hood, or under the seat.

Dennis Carpenter (www.dennis-carpenter.com) will sell you a brand-new 8N toolbox, indistinguishable (to my untrained eye) from the original, painted 8N red, for $24.50.

There's plenty of 12 volt batteries available which will fit the stock battery tray without having to remove the toolbox.

Here's four views of the 8N toolbox, so you'll be able to easily identify one when you find it:

Here's how a restored one looks with the lid up:

Hope this helps..... ..... Ed

One of my 8Ns has a 12V system and the tool box. Fits just fine! If you would like, I'll photograh it and send it to you by email.

Best of luck!

That would be great. What battery do you use, is it smaller than a standard car/ truck battery?

As others have said it is by the battery. If your tractor has a 12v conversion they are usually removed to fit the bigger 12v battery. StuK

Well, that would explain it. It has had a 12 volt conversion. Do they make any type tool box for them, that is either small enough to fit with the 12 volt battery, or one that mounts somewhere else? I saw one floor board for a Jubilee with a tool box under it.

Can't say I know of one ( I'm pretty new to 'N's and tractors in general.) Dennis Carpenter makes reproductions of the original and originals can still be had in the classified or ebay etc. StuK

The 9N/2N's had a toolbox that was mounted on the side of the battery box down low. The 8N had their box above and behind the battery. It had a sloped bottom to accomodate the instrument panel.
Where are you located at? I know where one or two are near me.
