I live in the Pacific NW, and with the advent of cooler weather, my 9N has picked up a knock in the engine. I just finished overhauling the carb, tuned the ignition, and gave it the semi-annual oil change. The tractor had not been run for about a month after being used weekly all summer. It is in the mid-30's to mid-50's now.The knock is very loud, and sounds like it's coming from the #2 cylinder area. There has been no change in oil pressure, and it still runs around 40 psi cold. The gage is new this year, so I think it is close to true. I tried 5W-30, hoping to get a little more pump-ability with the thinner cold oil. No luck. Still knocks. I only run it for 30 seconds at a time. Does anyone have any suggestions, shy of a rebuild? Compression is within spec, and it runs like a dream otherwise. The knock appeared suddenly, the first time she was started after sitting for a month in the barn. Thanks in advance for your help.
