Would please give me ideas for hardware I need to purchase to tap into the external hydraulic port in my 2N. I have a new loader I want to try out and want a leak free connection. I know the threads are a special type. What size and kind. Any information would be appreciated.

PS. Could quick-connect fitting be attached to it for easy removal?

PSS. What name is given to the type of valve I would need to open and close fluid to the loader cylinder?

You need a 5/16 (nominal) SAE514 O-Ring Base (ORB) fitting. This has a 1/2 x 20 TPI Unified Fine male thread - a straight thread. Do NOT attempt to put a pipe thread (tapered thread) fitting in there. The seal is made by an O-ring in a seat on the fitting flange.

Sure, you could put a quick-disconnect on there if you want. Make sure it is rated at 2000 psi. The problem you may have is that a quick-disconnect small enough to fit the threads of any fitting you can buy that has 5/16 ORB on the other end will have considerable flow restriction. The flow of this pump is so low already that you can't afford to be restricting it even more.

For a shut-off valve, you've got several choices of styles. Just make sure it is rated at 2000 psi. Myself, I would look at using a ball valve becasue it is the least restrictive, but ball valves cost more. Consult with your local hydraulic supplier. If you use a quick-disconnect with a proper auto-shut-off feature, you don't need a valve, of course. Just unplug the loader.

If you have a NAPA auto parts near you, most can make custom hoses and will have all the fittings you need. Which new loader did you end up buying? Just curious as I am thinking of buying one also.
