Warning- Yet another dumb question by yours truly.

Now, I've read a lot in the archives about having to replace the wiring harness. What exactly does the wiring harness include? On our Farmall Super A, the wiring harness simply means distributor cap and plug wires. Is it the same on an 8N, or does it mean something different?

Oh, and just so you know, the manuals for my N have been ordered by the NH dealer, I'll stop asking so many dumb questions by Friday.

Thanks, 68 Mag

Wiring Harness= all the electrical wires for the tractor, wrapped up in either original cloth or newer plastic, with appropriate wires sticking out at the right places to attach to the various electrical components. Sound fancy? It isn't. On the 8N's, the standard harness connected the generator, regulator, ammeter, ignition switch and coil. Accessories such as lights required more wires. A "harness" is used to keep loose wires from flopping aroung where they shouldn't be, and it does look neater. Lots of parts suppliers sell reproductions.

Wiring Harness is the high tech term for having all the electrical wires taped together so they don't dangle into dangerious places like fanbelts, driveshafts..... ..Dell
