8N PTO pumps?

Ok, here's the deal. I've heard of a pump that runs off of the PTO for loaders and large remote hydraulic uses. My question is, could I find a pump that I hook to my PTO and use to spray water or a similar liquid through a single hose? About how much would one of these cost? I ask because ever since the accident, I'm horrified of another field fire. I want to make a small trailer, with a 100/ 200 gallon tank on it, and 100 or so feet of hose to use if there ever was another field fire.

Thanks,

68 Mag

I think the link below might be what you need - Northern Tool has liquid pumps for the PTO shaft.

Wow, I just picked my jaw up off the floor. I cant spend more than 70 for a pmup, and really it'd be best under 50. I may just have to find another way...

In one of the buildings on the farm I bought, there was a pump that had a PTO coupling on it. Looked like it was 1-3/8" 6-spline. Can't remember if it was vane or roller style.

You should be able to easily hook up such a rig from the selection of components at your local farm supply store - like TSC, etc. You would want to use components ment for spraying insecticides/etc. that are mixed with water. However, I just looked in an ole catalog, and pumps are not cheap. Over $60 for just 7 GPM to $319 for 82 GPM. For $220 you could get pump and gas engine combo. You pays your money and takes your choice. I'd lean towards the self driven pump engine combo since it would not need to be hooked up to the PTO and you hook it to anything that could pull a trailer.

My $0.02!
Larry

Whoa, I had no idea pumps were so expensive. This may need to be built from scrapyard parts...
