Wow, Glad I found this place, seems like lots of good info here. I looked around here and did not see this one answered anywhere so I'll ask . My 9N has had a problem for several years with the hydraulics not holding the lift arms, they drift down. I took the pump out, checked it over, replaced the relief valve, had the local ford dealer test it and they say it is fine. I put a gauge on it while it is running and pressure is normal. No signs of a leak anywhere. Any ideas? I wouldn't know how to act if this thing wasn't drifting. Thanks

The lift could have some internal leaks that will cause the lift to drift down when the clutch is depressed or the engine is shut down.

If the lift is not able to hold the same position this is normal because the lift on the 9N and 2N does not encorporat position or height control.

There is a solution to this problem though and it is called the ZANE THANG position control.

If you are interested in having position control on the 9N see the link highlited below.

Hi Rick, "ZANE" is the hyd. wizard. If you go to the archives and just type his name,it will show you past post of how to solve your hyd. problem's.It sound's like Lester has hit the nail on the head though.:)You may consider going with a new NAA ram piston and rubber "0" ring with the leather back up washer.Work's GREAT,I'm glad these Guy's told me about it.It is 10 time's better than the old three steel ring's.Welcome aboard!Jay 2N

It would be the oil seeping past the rings in the lift cylinder, some is normal, if it gets too bad replace the rings.
