Have a 9n that I have just replaced a battery with 2 dead cells. I go to start the tractor 3 days later after only moving it quickly the day of the new battery installation and it is completely dead! What on earth would cause such a discharge while not in use and discharge to the point of not even attempting to turn over? have the battery(12v) on slow charge and I will see how that charges.

Had exactly the same problem on my 9N 12 volt conversion, I found that the insulation had come off the wire running through the metal loops on the back of the amp meter. Between the rust on the loops & the meter not being grounded very well the short just slowly drained the battery.

Is it original, or one of those converted hoopies? If it is still 6V, then check for a short or a sticking cutout. If somebody wrecked it by converting it to 12V, then good luck.

If you left the key on and if the points were closed three days is plenty of time to run down even a new battery. The cut out is also worth looking at.

Your mileage may vary

One possibility is the cutout for the generator isn't cutting out and the battery is discharging through the generator.
