I'm looking for a loader for an 8N. Does anyone have a brand they like or dislike? Do mechanical bucket releases work OK? Whar should I look for - or look out for?

I have a wagner loader on my 8N, has it's own crank powered pump and hyd.dump not trip. Many will say that the N tractors aren't built for loaders. While it wouldn't be my choice for everyday work, it's certainly the most useful thing in my barn. I expect it'll be even more useful when the snow comes

"My toy" came w/a wagner f.e.l. It has a stinger pump that runs off the crank, full hydr. My situation required a f.e.l cuz its just me & the wife. Dell has pointed out, N-tractors aren't really made for f.e.l's but I take my time and have fun.

am in the process of installing a Paulson loader on a '52 8n. i am three hours away so just get to work on it on weekends. it comes equiped to run off of the tractors hydraulics, but this renders your three point unusable. (you have to chain it down) instead i am using an old pto pump to deliver power. still not live but at least i will not have to chain down the three point. i have the pto pump, a new two spool hydraulic valve and am having a oil tank built. will use one spool to operate single acting cylinder for lift and the second for a double acting cylinder i will add to the bucket. the loader seems well built and if used as intended would be easy to install.

How about a Paulson Loader?

third party image

It is made specifically for the 9N, 2N, 8N, and Jubilee. It is also new and I have never heard anything bad about them.

And Mechanical Trips work okay. Just don't expect that great a performance out of your 8N with a loader. Remember that your steering is manual, not power, and she is going to get hard to turn with a load in the bucket. Also don't forget that the onboard hydraulics aren't live, so clutch out if you want to lift, or install an auxilliary pump.
