Well, I was visiting my tractor today...anywho. I mashed in the clutch, and pulled the shift lever on the Sherman all way back, everything is fine. Put it straight up, everything is great, push it all way forward with no problems. It'll go into all three positions without any problems. However, it wont, in any position, slide out 3/4 to 1 inch to go into 'direct drive' mode. Now, am I doing something worng, do I not have an over-under, or is something broken?

Thanks,

68 Mag

Thanks guys. We're going to go pick it up in the morning (Yay!), and I'll check the lever. If I remember correctly, it's shaped like an 'L', with the bottom going into the tractor. No sweeps, just a straigh bar. But as usual, I'm probably wrong. I'll look tommorrow.

If your shifter lever looks like a dog leg its a combo. Ours is tricky to get into bypass(direct drive). You have to put it in the middle and apply a little pressure away from the case, and wiggle it a little forward and back. You will tell when it comes out you can see a gap. Then pull it toward you that is bypass, like the sherman wasn't there.Hope you get it. Chrisr

hi 68mag, sounds like you have a sherman overdrive. my overdrive has 3 positions. high, nuetral and direct. look at john smiths website.he has pics of the shifter handles on both the overdrive and the combo. the handles are distictly different. the combo shift handle is swept back more than the other. good luck
