I just bought a 1950-1952 8N (still working on the serial number, but it is a late model). I used it for the first time and I heard a noise similar to a belt breaking. Turned it off and sure enough I found the remains of a belt. There is a brand new fan belt on it. So what (and where)is this 2nd belt for? It appeared to be in place between the actual fan belt and the fan itself. When I started it back up and parked it, it ran just fine. There is a loader on it (if that makes a difference). Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Just got off the phone with the guy I bought it from. He said there was only one belt on it. He thought maybe it was an old one that was stuck in there some place.

Alan..... .1 belt is standard for 8N's. Sometimes they can be a pain to replace if'n you have a frontend loader because you have to disconnect the hydraulic pump stinger from the crankshaft pulley to get the belt on. I always cut off the old belt..... .Dell
