we are looking for a front loader for a 8N tractor. Is there more than one kind? Where do we get the hydraulic power? We understand that the reservoir is on the frame of the loader. We don't know if we need a front pump or can we hook onto the PTO under the seat.thanks

I have a Wagner and they also drive from the front and has 2 way power on both the loader and the bucket. The hydraulic fluid is stored inside the tubular frame. It is a strong loader but heavy. The tractor steers hard even with the bucket empty.

I also have a Wagner, mines a WM-4 with the pump off the front. As jack mentioned it is heavy which makes it hard to steer. Brakes should be in top form to help you steer, also it would be wise to put wide tires on the front to avoid the original types from rolling off. The original front headlights have to be removed for my loader, so I attached some Farmall red fronts to the loader. A heavy workload of plowing for planting or brush hogging with alot of turning would make a loader an unpopular addition. Best of Luck...

I know there are several models of front end loaders for N's. Dearborn loaders seem common. Mine is a Superior that uses a front hydraulic pump run by a shaft that comes out of the front of the engine.

The shaft which drives the front mounted hydraulic pump does not COME OUT of the motor. It has a plate on the end with four drive dogs with bushings which are driven by the pulley mounted on the front of the motor. My loader uses this system which leaves the PTO free for other uses.
