This is off-topic, but I bought a new toy and need advice. In addition to my two 8N's, I now have a 1979 "977L" Caterpillar - which is a D9 Cat bulldozer with tracks and a 3-yard loader bucket.

I have never operated a 'dozer before, have no one to help me, and no information. I've been practicing on my own for a couple of weeks, and I'm being very cautious and am getting better at moving dirt around.

I'm concerned about maintenance. I need to know about lubrication, where the fluids go, what to check, etc. Where can I get a manual so I can read up on it? Will Caterpillar have an "owners manual" available for a 22 year old loader? Does anyone here know anything about this machine? It seems like my toys keep getting bigger! Thanks, - Sam

Sam..... ...believe it or not but Yesterdays Tractors also sponsors a "crawlers" board too. Just scroll down the board menu at the top of the page. I'm sure that a reputable outfit like Caterpillar will have all kinds of manuals available from their customer service. I'd do a search on the web and go shopping. I also know that there have been several "enthuists" books printed with the whole caterpillar story, check with Amazon.com or Borders Books..... ...Dell
