Hey guys.
I recently changed the oil in my 51 8N.
I felt up inside the 2 1/2 inch opening of the oil drain plug and felt the inside of the canister which the oil plug screen fits into. I could easiy move it side to side about an inch or so. This didn't seem right to me. But its been a while since I had her torn down. I can't remember how this unit, with the tube attatched, which goes up to the oil pump, is connected at the oil pump. It isn't pictured in my service books. Does anyone have one appart, or remember this connection? Is this looseness something to be concerned about? I am still getting good oil pressure. But if there is some bolts loosening I don't want them comming out and beating arround in my oil pan.

Please help!

Norman, Ray is correct as usual. Here is a picture of the pump with pickup tube attached.

Fairly comon complaint with Ns. The top end of the tube is attached, silver solder, it appears to be to the pump housing. I have brazed them with success. If you do braze it be sure it is aligned correctly. My son's is still holding after several years.
Dr Zane does not recomend repair by brazing. Should be a lot in the archives
