putting my 47 back together and after bolting down new radiator discovered lower elbow is touching axle. think i'm gonna have to pull radiator back off and grind out a small area where it is hitting or it will crack the elbow. has anyone else had this problem?

You should have 1/4 thick rubber pads[2] between the bottom of the radiator and the center axle support.Bolts should go thru each pad.If you still have problems, the center axle support could also be bent, bad center pin and or bushing.AND, you could have a bad radiator, which I hope did not come from me.IMHO don

I made spacers out of a piece of old conveyor belt. I also made the "friction spacer" for the quadrant on the lift control handle. Someone gave me that piece of belt and it sure has come in handy.

I would try to avoid grinding on the radiator, and like the other post said, put some spacers in to lift up the radiator mounting. You should have room between the radiator and the cowl since there is a pad that goes between the space already. If that doesn't give you enough room, I still wouldn't grind on that elbow, but instead put a torch on it and bend it up slightly, but not enough to kink it or melt the brass or soldeer joint.
