i have cork from my gasket in the fuel bowl. my question is there anywhere i can get the gasket and can you replace the gasket in the fuel bowl shut off.
what is the purpose of the side marker? does it work like a turn signal, just a tail light or does it flash like a flasher. reason i ask is i want to put one on instead of using a diode.

Use a NAPA #730-9506 Balkamp gasket.

Alan..... .fuel shutoff valve gaskets are available from both FNH and good NAPA stores and very inexpensive. You might want check your inside the tank fuel filter to see if'n its still there or desolved. You'll have to remove the whole valve assy, drain the gas tank first. (hint) When gaskets start to go, everything else does too. Replacement filter is a new valve assy, sorry.

The side marker light is used as a decoupler in 12 volt conversions with the popular Delco SI-10 3 terminal alternator. It works like the idiot light on your car dashboard. It does not blink/flash. It is just an eazy way to do the job.

The diode also works as a decoupler to prevent 12 volts from inside the alternator feeding back out to the ignition coil and preventing you from turning off your tractor ignition. But you have to make certain you install it correctly, you have a 50% chance of being wrong.

You can also use a 10 ohm 10 watt power resistor to accomplish the same effect, which like the idiot light, doesn't care which end is connected which direction.

I know of at least 2 other ways to accomplish the same result, decouple the alternator's internal 12 volts from the ignition coil so the engine will stop running..... ...Dell
