Thanks everybody. Here is the scoop, I realized I was getting a spark but not enough spark due to weak battery. Since I was jump starting direct to the starter, the spark was coming from the weak battery.
Ran out of time today. She puttered behind my pickup around the yard but would stall once the pickup slowed.
I'll take her on the open road tomorrow so we can pump a little speed on the straightaway.
On a level road, how fast would I be going in 3rd?
Thanks again for all your suggestions.

Paul

Paul,do you have a battery charger? If your battery was charged up now you have gotten the oil pumping around it might start on its own.10 mph should be plenty fast enough.

Hi Paul,
After reading your post and Dell's reply, it jogged the old memory I carry around.
I remember on more that one occassion seeing my mother and father starting our 8N. Daddy would drive the old Plymouth with chain attached to 8N and Mama would ride it and release the clutch until it started. Never got very fast though. Dad was cautious. Good Luck.

Paul..... .N-Steering is not meant for high speed, but you know that.

Typical road speed at typical engine rpm = 1,750
1st gear = 3.2 mph
2nd gear = 4.1 mph
3rd gear = 5.7 mph
4th gear = 11.9 mph
full throttle 4th = 15.5 mph but you won't catch me doing that, I don't scare eazy but that scares me..... .Dell
