Ok, I wrote awhile back about getting a top link for my tractor & t didn't fit in the lift rocker,#106,Fig.FO84 on page 34 of FO-4 shop manual. This pic shows the one that has been on my tractor forever. Now my good friend at the FNH parts counter gave me one with 3 holes for the top link. Still can't use the bottom one, could but the pin would have to be driven in with a hammer. The bottom mounting hole on the new to me part is a 1 inch hole needed to be 3/4". Not a problem just bushed it up. Did some blading & it seems to work ok. I noticrd the lift height is diff per hole. I'm assumimg this has nothing to do with down distance. I'm thinking it is gravity down so I'll just have to wait till my Zanethang arrives for that.:) Question is what is the purpose of these adjustment holes? And will I have to make an adjustment at the main control spring to run this part? Gonna have to paint it, orange don't make it on my Ford.

Rusty..... the 3-hole toplink rocker acts as a mechanical amplifier to your hydraulic lift. ie...top hole is most sensitive...ie fastest response (loudest amplifier) As respected N-Tractor authority, Palmer Fossum adamantly put it this way, "DON'T EVER USE THE TOP HOLE", it will pull the guts outta yer hydraulics. Now I don't know if'n this is true, but considering the source, I respect the mans opinion.

To use the bottom link hole, I had to do a little grinding, (has to do with modern toplink's slightly larger ball joint OD) no big deal to use the middle hole. I've known 8N's that have had the top hole torched off so no one can use it. Adjust your spring per I&T FO-4.

And yes, the "Zane Thang" is a great 3-point improvement for 2N's. It will still be gravity down..... ..Dell
