I saw the posting on Monday and have a couple of questions.

I see that you used a traditional snowplow pump, like used on trucks. I am going to guess that it runs of of your 12 volt conversion, just like a truck.

Did you have your alt rebuilt to be High Output (HO)? I don't know what the specs for your plow are, but the motors on the ones I have read about can pull up to 200 amps, per lift.

I don't see an extra battery anywhere in the pic, but was wondering if you had plans to just let you tractor 'trickle' charge between uses, or if you had even thought of this possible situation.

I have a snowplow that I am going to adapt to my AC D17, and battery life/starting trouble is one hurdle I see without a HO alt, or second bat, if I go completely with the elec. plow setup.

This may be a useful article to you as well.

I have used this plow for two previous winters and haven't ever had a battery problem. I do try and buy a bit larger amp battery for all my equipment as it is one thing I feel that more is better. I used a standard GE alternator in my conversion. Don't remember much else. Lifting the plow may dim the headlights just a bit but no real problems have been noted.

I adapted a Meyers plow to a friends AC 180 and he had no problems with battery rundown. He does a lot of straight plowing. Also you aren't running a lot of lights, heaters, etc. If you are doing a lot plowing where you lift the plow a lot it might be an issue. On an 8N conversion there are a lot of larger capacity Delco alternators out there. They use to use 55 amps on trucks successfully.
