Well, in my boredom, I designed an implement to rake leaves. I assume it would be large, bulky, and impractical in reality, but if I ever get the materials, I may try to build it just for fun. Here is a diagram I drew up, and I wanted to know if anyone thought this would work? I'm still working on some technical stuff, like gear ratios and how to put an activator clutch on it, so I could pull it without the header spinning, i.e. transport or hauling a load to dump. By the way, I forgot to put in the picture- The straight part on the rear is a door. There is a hinge right where it angles, and a latch at the bottom.

You can pick up a ton of em in no time and you dont even have to get out of the seat to empty the hopper. Even has a drink holder for your favorite beverage.

...but worth every penny of it as far as time saved. Easy to maintain also.

...But I'd rather use an N or Farmall with finish mower...more fun that way. =)

If you so many leaves you need an implement, I have a better idea. Using your tractor and a hay rake, rake them into rows, bale them with a square baler. Take the leaf bales to the nearest big town and sell them as compost.

Ifn I were doin' it I'd use a pto drive for the rake, the have it throw the leaves into a tilt bed trailer. That gives you a clutch for the rake and an easy dump for the trash.

I would do that, but I'm designing it to be pulled with a 20 horse riding mower, without a PTO.

Not to be facetious, but they already make these. I have one on my lawn tractor.
