I have a 46-2N, and while working the tractor with a Ford 901 5' Rotary mower, I notice oil emissions coming out of the breather cap. There is also a brownish to tan color inside of the breather tube. Is this back pressure or something else? Should I be concerned about this, or is this just normal?

The purpose of the breather is just that-to let the crankcase breathe. If you are getting vapor out, it is oil blowby. The quantity depends on the condition of the engine. I really wouldn't worry about it unless it is excessive, but usually you will have other problems first. If you see a white froth, it is moisture--see posts about a page ago.

Remember, until the days of positive crankcase ventilation (PCV) on cars, all crankcases were vented via a "draft tube" that sucked all these emissions to atmosphere, now we run them back into the engine and reburn them. Yummy.
