Looks Like I am going to replace the rear tires on one of my 8Ns...getting new rims too.

I know I can use either:

11.2*28
12.4*28

There isn't a huge difference in cost.

But what are the reasons to buy one over the other?

I am thinking the 12.4 has a bigger foot print and will offer better traction, how much more I don't know...(plus it will hold more fluid).

I don't use a loader or have any sepcieal needs...I brush hog, plow snow, rear scoop and pull things around.

What are your thoughts?

Thanks.

-Sal

I bought new rims and tires for my 8n.
Went with 11/28 rims and 12.4/28 Firestone Field and Road OEM tires. Works well and looks good.
Have 5.50/16s on the front. Don A L

I'd just gouge out a hole in one of them... fill em with cement and throw a metal patch over the hole. Don't drive to fast on them though... the great thing is you don't need to worry about hydroplaneing when you go through wet areas!

Happy Holidays

I also wanted the biggest rear tires till the traction story was explained to me. I have a freind that is very successful at 4 wheeling! He said that i wanted to stay with the 11.2 tires because the smaller footprint would have more psi. on the ground than one with the same weight and double the foot print. I wonder if all that is over ruled when the tires are filled, because they hold different amounts. I want 13.6 by 28.

Sal..... ..stiff tractor tire sidewalls are not too forgiving to mismatched rim widths. Which ever size you decide upon, make certain the rim width is proper. Myself, I have 14.9 X 24, talk about footprint (grin). Take good care of them and they'll last another 50 years..... ...Dell

Sal..... ...10" rim with 11.2 tire should be just fine. Its usually molded into the Ag tire, the size of rim required..... ..Dell
