Yes, I know. There is a forum for garden tractors. However, the advice I get here has always been great, so I'd trust y'all before some people who have never answered my posts before.

Now- I have decided to add some more lights to the 17 horse Murray mower. They'll be standard, 12 volt fog lights, and the power source will be a 12 volt battery, seperate from the one under the seat. My question is- I am in no way electronically inclined. There will be 4 lights, set A, with 2 lights, and set B with 2 lights. Now, they'll both run off the same 12 volt battery. I want to activate set A without activating B, and likewise, B without A. There will be two, 2 position toggle switches on the dash, and the lights will be either on or off. How would I wire something like this? If anyone has the time, a diagram would be great.

Thanks,

68 Mag

If you are going to run a spare battery you may want to use a inverter that will output 110 volts.. that way you can run your lights and a battery charger at the same time.. just make sure your inverter has enough power to run your charger and lights and the charger puts out enough power to feed the inverter at full load. Wait a minute... Dave said it was impossible???

Would like to see a night time photo of that 14 light tractor. Has anyone called in a "UFO" sighting?

You'll have to wait until I draw one. I hooked up 14 extra lights to my Sears Craftsman lawn tractor. 4 foglamps for the front, 2 for the rear, 4 regular headlamps for the front, one on each side and 2 in the back. It was tough building the housings for them but when I was through, I patted myself on the back. Now I can mow grass at anytime of the night and even when it's rainy and foggy.

Sketch to follow,

Tyman

I am sick and tired of people telling me 'It's impossible', "It's irrational", "It cant be done", "You dont have the money", "You're not good enough", and "You're just a kid". Each and every time someone said that to me, I gave up. Well, not this time, buddy! Not only am I going to do this, I'm going to post a picture of it when I'm through, at night, with the lights on!

I thought of that, I think. I realized I didnt need to put too much on that tiny little Murray battery, so I decided to use a seperate 12 volt battery. If I understand right, I wont need a generator for that, as long as I put it on a battery charger every once in a while, right?
