Just finished fabing my 3pt. trailer hitch. As I was admirring it I thought with a little help from you all we could come up with a trencher. Was thinking along the lines of the hitch but with an I-beam held vertically and adjustable into the soil that with a few passes could make a trench. WHat ya think. thanks in advance, Paul

Hey Paul, Look in the implement photos archives. A while back, I loaded a picture of an item I got with my tractor when I bought it.

It is called a Wills Ditcher, and that is the name the photo is under. It attaches by the 3pt and then it looks like it would use a couple of cylinders to operate.

If you can not find it, let me know and I will try and post the photos again.

I have not done a thing with it since I got it and I was thinking about selling it but I could not find any other info on it.

I do not know if the hydralics on an N would run it or not. I do not have any cylinders to try it.

Paul8N,

In the archives there is an article about a guy trenching with a plow. I've listed the link below. Hopes this helps. Happy Holidays

Paul,
ten years ago I needed to run temp water lines for 1000 seedlings I had put in. I don't know if it will go deep enough for you, but what I made was cheap and worked well.

TSC had some "V" plow blades about 18" wide and 24" tall. I fab'd two mounting plates out of flat stock and attatched one to the V plow and one to the bottom of my back blade I beam. 4 bolts held the two flat plates together when it was mounted. When I wanted to trench, I bolted the v plow on and dug away. If depth wasn't a concern (16+"), I left the back blade on for more digging weight. If I needed to go deeper, I removed the blade completely. If I needed the back blade, I removed the four bolts and the back blade would still swivel freely under the fixed mounting plate.

If I had a pic, I'd post it. It worked well, and parts were about 25 bucks.

Would like an easy way to dig a trench for footing of the garage I am going to build along with trenches for water drainage hoses off of downspouts and underground electric and gas. Thanks again for your input.

Paul, What are you trying to do. If you are trying to dig a drainage ditch you have to get rid of the dirt. If you are trying to bury a cable or plastic water line a sub soiler works good. Dave <*)))><
