How important is it to have matching rear tires.

I would think that outside of looks the really important thing is the tire cricumference.

I would think a lot of us have mis-matched tires out there...

Many old N's have mis-matched tires and they all seem to keep on going anyway. I have a 2N that I mow grass every week with and its rear tires are the same size and brand and style but do not match in tread or height. To best remedy the situation I adjusted air pressure up about 1-1/2# in one and down a # in the other so they are close to the same, works for me, called adjusting stagger learned it on the race track.

My opinion ony, on a tractor I don't believe different tires make much difference, the tractor only goes a few miles an hour. But I also know according to our Union (CAW local 111) they will not allow different tread on our buses, claiming that different tread grip different and could cause our buses to NOT TO STOP properly, i.e. one wheel gripping before the other causing uneven braking. This is their theory, take it for what it is worth.

have an older friend who had an old furgerson tractor with one tire much larger than the other. ask if there was a reason for it and he said that he got tired of sitting sideways when plowing.
