as i mentioned in my previous post i found a cover out of an old 9n that lays just under the door and covers everything but the end of the fuel tank and cap. i am just curious are these hard to find and or rare? i have never seen one on any N tractor i have ever looked at. i could see how these covers get lost or discarded over the years as they just lay in there and are easy to take out and lay somewhere and forget about. the one i got is in perfect shape just some surface rust. they seem like they would be easy to make for a repro guy like dennis carpenter and i would think they would sell good to restoration people. anyone else have one of these? i'm curious. merry christmas to all. pete a.k.a. thanks for the responses but i do not need one. i bought one yesterday at a tractor junkyard in perfect shape for $10. it just has a little surface rust. i had never seen one and i was just curious as to how hard they are to find.

My 9N has one off these and it is probably the original. It is not something that I thought of taking a photo of. It covers the battery nicely and I lay the fuel tank dip stick ( a short piece of dowell ) on top of it.

Let it be known that you are looking for one; they are out there.

Click on the link below and go to the restoration page. Mr. Neff has another quality pic there of one. I have one that is not yet restored and I don't have a picture of it. They were quite often discarded and that is why they are now hard to find. Hope this helps.

To elaborate on the subject, I purchased mine on Ebay a couple of years ago. A forum member had one up for auction. I think they were originally made for the 2N but it's a great safety feature for the 9N as well.

They are fairly rare from what I've seen. I saw one on ebay that went for over $100. I haven't been able to find any since. ...TG...

I also have a '43 2N that I would like to have one for. I wouldn't put something on that wasn't suppose to be there.
