I have a '44 2n that seems to lift well ,but how many pounds should they be able to lift? I have a disc that is about 6 ft and has 4 rows of disks. It can lift it but the front gets very light! I also have a 3 point crane and i can lift a 4 foot tall by 4.5 foot round of an oak tree. This seems good to me! Have a merry christmas everyone. My small site is www.erols.com/hpmt

I will try to post a pic of one of the oak rounds that i lifted with my crane. I do have 19 by 4 inch tires and no weights. Thanks for all the info.

Well I tested my hydralics to day! I put my aprox. 350lb+ snow blade up against a 8N front end with frontwheel weights on the 8N tied it on lifted it and my front end just floated till I backed it up then it would go down. I did get it in the garage but my front tires were light. Don't know how much I was lifting but the hydralics on my Ferguson TO-30 worked fine! Mark H.

That's if its density is 45#/cu.ft.

If I read his post correctly, I don`t understand how you came up with your 2900# figure. Four ft long x 4.5 ft round would be about 18 inches in diameter which would yield less than 100bd ft. I use 5# to the bd ft as a rough figure. Maybe I am misunderstanding, and it is 4.5 ft across? That would be pretty huge for an oak around here, but not impossible.

You got that right! Even a rear scoop bucket with gravel makes my 2N into a "twinkletoes."
