We have a place on the river in Va. There is a 65 foot sand bank down to the river. when there is a fall it takes the trees too. In an attempt to keep the wood we had a man cut down the tree with one of those machines that can grab the tree while they cut it free and lie it on the ground. From there it was my job to cut it all up and split it for fire wood. I did save the biggest round of wood and put it in the rear of our very old and tired astro van. Now it can get the traction the it needs to pull the boat trailer up out of the all sand boat ramp. (Big stupid smile here) The van is only used on the place and very rarely goes anywhere but to the boat ramp. If you look at my site and go to the tractor page you can see the bank and the river.

That be heavy ok! Those round bales people are dragging around can't weight as much as that round.
How do you keep the front wheels on the ground?

Round bales can weigh up to 2500 pounds or more, depending on hay type and size. We had some on the farm that were made with silage. They were VERY wet, and then wrapped in plastic and sat outside. We had a scale on the front loader, and some of them would weigh as much as 2700 lbs each. We didn't use an 8n though to lift them. Used a 6207 Deutz tractor with a front loader. Picked up a granite rock with it once that lifted the rear wheels, which were 2/3s full of calcium. That was a heavy rock. Sits in my front yard now, along with some others I've found.

Rob..... ..from New Holland 1991 round baler specs: 48d X 48L 650 lbs, 48d X 60L 1000 lbs, 48d X 72L 1500 lbs, 60d X 72L 2000 lbs.

Most N-Tractor hydraulics can't handle 'em cuz they can't keep the front wheels onnna the ground after about 750 lbs, neglecting the extended center of gravity effect caused by the bale spear which probably will cause the wheels to lift at 500 lbs..... .Dell, the self-appointed safety preacher who sez: wheelies are too exciting except on dragsters

I can too easily pop a wheelie with my heavy 5' rotary mower raised up on my 2N. I don't like it when that happens.
